Here Comes the Briiide....

Greetings Mortals!

This weeks blog posting is somewhat unique and calls for a rather different introduction. This as you may recoginize is a YouTube embedded video. Ghost Relations Department contributor Leotas Child was lucky enough to be stopped in the Disneyland Attic near the bride. She was able to capture the entire one minute loop and with a little Ghost Relations Dept audio editing, the entire audio loop can be heard as well. Many thanks goes out to Leotas Child!

NOTE: This video was added a day early to test the embedding of Youtube Videos.

The new bride looks quite impressive and high-tech. I'll always fondly remember the uncanny quality of the silent old bride, though, whose heartbeat told its own story.

It looks like a great effect, and the concept is pretty funny, with plenty of that macabre humor that the Haunted Mansion is famous for. Can't wait to see it in person.

I'm a little less impressed with the reported plan to weave this bride character's story throughout the entire ride. The Haunted Mansion was working just fine as a series of disconnected sight gags and effects, and it's unlikely that any Disney-invented backstory will be as satisfying to fans as the ones they've thought up on their own.

That was a pretty sweet bit of footage. Aside from the fact that I'm not 100% sure on this whole "Bride is evil" backstory, I think it may give the mansion a darker edge for newcomers, and non-fans.

(Kind of like Phantom Manor, since that has a sweet backstory, albeit rather confusing in points)
